Melissa Perron

Candidate for State Representative 107th District

Putting Northern Michigan First

Fighting for families, safe communities, and accountable government.

I'm not a politician. I'm a mother. A tribal member. A worker. A friend. A neighbor.”

“I’m running for State Representative because I've lived the consequences of policies written by people who've never walked in our shoes.”

I've navigated the systems that are failing us:

  • I've fought insurance companies to get care for medically complex children

  • I've worked in schools where teachers are stretched too thin

  • I've worked minimum-wage jobs where one unexpected expense meant disaster

I represent voices that are rarely heard:

  • Corrections officer families watching their loved ones burn out

  • Rural mothers choosing between pediatrician appointments and paying bills

  • Tribal citizens who deserve representation that honors sovereignty

  • Working-class families who can't hire lobbyists

I've already proven I don't wait for permission to lead:

  • Founded an advocacy group for the MDOC staffing crisis

  • Educated myself on policy processes and legislative advocacy

  • Built grassroots coalitions across the district

A Voice for Northern Michigan‍ ‍

Melissa Perron is a mother of five, Sault Tribe member, advocate, and lifelong Northern Michigan resident running to bring real experience and authentic voice to the 107th District.

Melissa has worked within school districts, in tribal family services, and across the service industry in jobs where she learned what working families actually need, not what politicians think they need. After founding an advocacy group for Michigan's Corrections Officers during the ongoing staffing crisis, she saw how out of touch Lansing had become.

Now she's running for State Representative because the 107th District deserves someone who's lived the struggles, not just studied them. Someone who will fight for rural healthcare, public safety, education funding, tribal sovereignty, and all the families who keep Northern Michigan strong.

Melissa: Real Experience. Real Solutions. Real Voice.

Bridging Michigan

Michigan feels divided not just by politics, but by geography, access, and whether a leader truly listens. Bridging Michigan means closing those gaps. For too long, communities across Northern Michigan rural towns, small cities, families, and tribal communities have felt overlooked when decisions are made far away in Lansing. People deserve a representative who listens, stays accessible, and is present year-round delivering steady, accountable leadership instead of just appearances. Someone that understands their way of life and brings their voices to the table. I believe leadership isn’t about picking sides. It’s about connecting people, listening first, and turning shared challenges into real solutions. ‍ ‍

Bridging Michigan Means:

Real leadership isn’t about picking sides. It’s about bringing people together to solve problems.

  • Bridging Northern Michigan and Lansing

  • Bridging families and decision-makers

  • Bridging tribal and non-tribal communities

  • Bridging conversation into action

  • Bridging the 107th District together

This campaign is about building trust, restoring accountability, and making sure every voice of the 107th District is heard.
